Default Gears are Grinding!!

I am having problems with my gears grinding when i shift in my 93 civic si (d16z6). Now my grinding problem only occurs at really high rpm, especially redline. Sometimes it doesn't not even let me into gear. Now please don't tell me i'm shifting improperlly because I am not trust me. Everyone I have let drive my car grinds the gears. Now I am thinking its a number of things. First thing is my short shifter, I am definately taking this **** out because I have a feeling this is the main reason. Second is I think i might need new tranny oil, even tho I got it changed a few months ago. 3rd I am thinkin maybe the clutch fluid. I just checked it today, and it is black. Well any suggestions or solutions you might think that can solve my problem will be helpfull. Thanks.

It may be the syncros in the trany......
Is it all gears or just specific ones?

All of my gears grind I believe, but second the most, then 3rd, and I think 4th does a tiny bit maybe. Sometimes second is so bad you can't even get in gear. Rigth now I'm hoping that the tranny lasts me till I get my swap, because I am not buying a new tranny for this SOHC VTEC motor. Do you think changing the short shifter back to stock, and changing the clutch fluid will help any? Let me know anything that might help. Thanks.

no !! will not help you much !! since you syncros are fucked !! the short shift will only make it faster shifting and you have 2 learn how 2 shift with this !!!

i can almost guarantee its your clutch master or the slave. the black fluid was from your rubber seals deteriorating and without the seal air was getting in and the clutch wasnt fully disengaging i had the same exact problem with my 94 gsr

I would think it is the syncros, I just rebuilt my friends D16Z6 tranny and another problem was the fork. Those damn 1st-2nd forks always chip in the middle and make sliding the syncro collar harder.

Id start with the trans fluid first that would be the cheapest fix but if you recently changed it Id say synchros, How many Miles are on the trans?

It's definitely your synchros. I have the same problem with my tranny. My third gear grinds when I shift from 2nd to 3rd at high rpms. I don't think it's the short shifter that causes this problem, it's from power shifting too much. Have you been power shifting a lot? My dumba$$ screwed up the tranny by doing this. Most likely take it to a transmission shop and have them do an external diagnostic on it.

Well if everyone thinks its the syncros, thats probably most likely what it is. I definately don't power shift, I never have because I don't even know how to. I shift normally all the time, i just bang gears really hard and fast when im racing. The gears never grind unless I am shifting at high rpm or accelerating really fast. If I drive normal without shifting quickly its fine, and no grind. I wish there was a way I can solve this without spending mega bucks because I wanna get a swap soon anyway, and I am not putting any major money into this motor I have now, cause that would just be taking away the money I can use towards the swap. So basically I guess I am fucked till my tranny goes completely. Any suggestions on anything I can do to prolong the life of the tranny till I get this swap done? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

could it be the clutch? pressure plate? transmission fork? Shift fork? ETC?

I'm having a 5th gear grind and would like to explore every possibility and be certain its the synchos before paying someone to do it.
