Default Gear not engaged after clutch install, please help

After we put in the clutch we put it into each gear no problem. But when it was in gear you could still move the wheels forward/backward. 1st-5th, you can still roll backward, and reverse you can still move forward. Why would it be doing this?

when its in gear you can turn one wheel and the other doesnt move at all. Typically its supposed to move the opposite direction. you can move each one freely. Doesnt matter which gear its in. Can anyone explain this? Maybe once i get the car back on the ground it will set in and work again?

SOMEONE HELP!!

sounds like an axle shaft problem maybe. did you make sure the axle was popped in all the way. why did you you replace the clutch anyways.....did the car not move or just quit moving? i have had an outter CV joint go bad and it seemed like a clutch problem. let me know?
