Gasoline smell when A/C is on...?
Can anyone tell me why my car smells like gasoline when I put on my A/C... I checked my fuel pump but nothing was leaking from there... Does anyone have any suggestion...? Please help........
The computers in cars are very smart now. They use various sensors to monitor engine loads and air income etc. When you put your A/C on it sends a signal to your computer to warn it of the load the compressor will put on a motor. Its amazing but kinda sucks that your compressor can rob your motor of up to 10HP. So if you put that load on your engine it would more than likely stall because of the instant load. So the computer compensates and adds fuel to keep your car at a steady idle. For some reason your computer is telling your car to put the fuel to it hard. Does it run any differnt or any engine idle iregulties? I am going by the fact that you said you smell fuel as in a running extremely rich. Unless you don't see any leaks or spots on the ground, that would be my educated guess of what could be happening. Hope it helps a little.

I'd check for fuel leaks under the hood. Are there any exhaust leaks? Do you run the a/c in recirculate mode?

I don't see any fuel leakage. I checked my fuel pump but it didn't start smelling after I put on my a/c. Should I put it on recirculate mode? Thanks for the feed back...
The gas cap is the one on my fuel pump rite? The fuel filter is in the front rite? I have a 99 si. So is that where it should be at.? Thanks ...

No, the gas cap, every time that you fill your gas tank at the gas station you remove it (gas cap) to fill the tank.
