gasket removal / mating surface of head ports... ?
scraped off my stock intake manifold gasket today. what a PAIN! the gasket remover helped a lot, but it took a half dozen liberal applications and a fair amount of scraping through the upper layers of the gasket to let the remover soak through. despite being very careful, i did put some small scratches in the mating surface. i know with a regular gasket this wouldn't be a problem, but since the hondata gasket is so much stiffer/harder, does anyone foresee a leak here? (see next to last pic)
note that the gasket blocks the EGR hole. since i won't be going to an OBDI ECU or doing the "workaround" (even with that, some have had problems...) i'll be drilling that hole out before putting it back together.

Re: gasket removal / mating surface of head ports... ? (Jared)
they're actually smaller than they look.... someone else suggested i use a little silicone in there. that sounds SKETCH to me, especially considering how hot it gets right there. ??
and while i'm here... what does everyone think of the whitish discolorations on the head? it doesn't come off.... surface is still very very smooth though :
