ok got a gsr in my ek just got rebuilt all type r internals an the head is mainly ctr components with a fresh panp an milled 1 over. running on a p72 that is chipped and a vafc2 type r header all the little stuff.

the problem is when the car is cold it runs fine no sputtering, but when it warms up it sputters so bad that it is barley driveable, then when i hit a stop it is either idleing at 500 or it will just shut off when not in gear. i have check the spark plug gap it was good my o2 it was good tried new ecu nothing. i even took it to the best shop that we have in town and the guy was like i have no idea what is wrong with your ****, but i am currently in el paso texas so not the best mechanics here u kno.

another friend of mine said that the valves might be sticking? but havent taken the cover off to check it out yet. has anyone ever had this problem before and if so what was it or what the hell could mine be the motor has about 400 on the rebuild never been past 3k since then help would be much appreciated thanks

 

have you checked your cam timing yet....and also make sure youre valve lash is in spec.

 

p72 chipped with what? with itr intenrals you will need to be running at least an itr ecu...i have a gsr with itr internals and stock gsr head with 01 itr cams and my car runs like shyt with a stock p72...switched to a p28 with itr base map...car runs like a champ...im pretty positive its your ecu
