Default Fuel Problem

I changed my fuel filter out last week, and ever since, there has been a strong fuel smell in my car. I checked the lines, and it does not appear to be leaking. My gas milelage has dropped to about 15mpg. What else should I check?

Look also for leaking fuel lines under the car. They may have been close to rusting thru & you disturbed them just enough when you changed the filter?
