Default Fuel Pressure Regulator...

Heres my case...
I got a b18c5 with a mugen program p-28 ECU with a GSR fuel pump. Im getting like 200 miles on a full tank(no i didnt floor it the whole time). I just installed a air/fuel gauge and I'm reading RICH like all the time even at WOT it never goes to the stoich point.

Now the question is.......
Would adding a fuel pressure regulator literally shoot in less fuel??I'm wondering cuz if it does imma get it. Im not too sure how this thing works so if someone can help me out on this one it would be great.

I think the mugen programs run hella rich. Not sure though.....

rich is better than lea, 13.5/13.0-1 a/f r is the best..
and that a/f gauge only give you idea where your car is running rich or lea.

Fuel pressure regulator only can adjuest WOT.

i suggest Get a FPR and VAFC, fine tune on dyno with lamber meter.

Mugen program does run extremely rich. I would think that a V-AFC would take all the fuel you need to at part throttle...

no way man leaner makes power. just dont run like high a/f ratios like 17:1's you will melt something quick.

okay i know running really lean is bad. I dont have the money for a V-AFC so what im askin is would a adjustable fuel pressure regulator litterally shoot in less fuel if i turned it down? come on i know someone knows .........

Would it? Yes. The effective flow rating of the injectors is related to the fuel pressure in the rail. Dropping this pressure would drop the effective flow rating of the injector. Try the RC site for equations on how to figure out your flow rating with different rail pressures...

FPR only adjusts pressure at WOT? so it won't f*** with your idle if you adjust it a little on the rich side? so you only get more fuel when you really need it.....
interesting.....

Think of it this way. The injectors open and close within a short time frame, with a FPR you will be able to raise the pressure going to the injectors. When this happens within that same time frame more fuel is pushed through the injectors before it closes. I know on some mugen ecus the vtec engagement is lowered, the air/fuel ratio is also reprogramed to deal with the lower vtec point. This will cause you to get poor gas milage.
