I don't really know where this post belongs so I guess I'll just stick it here.
I wanted to hear some opinions/ experiences with fuel and oil additives like Zmax and such... Is it worth all that its made out to be.

A tv show called Fifth Gear tested some a while back and they were all crap. Look up the video on YouTube. Look for "The Myth about Fuel Additives 5th Gear" or something like that.

cool man I'll check it out

speed channels truckU seems to think that Zmax is the **** and claims that it will get better fuel mileage and increase performance - they are biased though as the show seems to be sponsored by them
btw, Zmax claims that their products are not an oil additive, it just simply uses the oil to spread its products throughout the engine so that it can soak into the metal

Fuel additives are just plain worthless. They do nothing, and if anything will destroy your oil pump quicker. The additives tend to foam up when heated and churned around in the motor unlike oil. So when its sucked by the oil pump it starts to suck up the air bubbles in the oil as well.
And we all know that when there is air bubbles in your coolant, it makes the motor run rockier, so just imagine what its like going on inside your motor.

Only additives I use:
Seafoam, every 5000 miles or so to reduce carbon buildup. Already know very well that it works, it's caused a gas mileage increase on our 1999 GMC Suburban by roughly 2 mpg.
Red-Line Water-Wetter, mixed with distilled water during the summer, and with antifreeze/distilled water during the winter. Definitely runs ALOT cooler with this additive, I saw roughly a 15F decrease during strenuous driving.

Honda states additives are neither necessary nor recomended. Besides, most in my opinion aren't worth the cost for what they might deliver.
I may, however, use one bottle of Chevron Techron in the fuel tank every 50k or so. Doesn't seem to matter if I do or not.

I like your thinking.
Very reasonable
