Default fuel lines, etc. grrrrr!!!!

I am looking to outfit my car with steel braided hoses and plumbing here soon but the thing is..I dont understand AN sizes! I'm not sure what size of fittings to get for anything...Could someone help me understand how AN sizes compare to standard/metric sized fittings? Any help would be appreciated

AN fittings work in 16ths of an inch. so a -8 AN fitting would be 1/2 inch in diameter. -10 would be 5/8 inch etc. i don't believe the threads are the same as UNC, UNF or metric threads though. a common size for fuel feed hose is -8 or -10 and -6 for return hose. so when you buy that hose, you need matching AN fittings for the hose size. so if you use -10 feed hose, you use all -10 fittings.
