front hood doesn't close
don't know where this should go. so if it's not in the correct thread pls move it somewhere else. my front hood doesn't seem to fully close. there are side molding underneath the hood all around the corner and i suspect that is the problem. can somebody confirm this problem? should i remove the side molding?
sorry, i thought it would be common sense. it's an 92 civic hatch. i bought it that way 1 month ago. the front hood doesn't close fully, i'd say about an 1 1/2 -2 inch off. there is a side molding that is attached underneath the hood. i wonder if that may be causing the hood not to fully close. will try to take it off and see.
Side molding? Having a hard time picturing what it is you're talking about. 2"? That seems to be a bit drastic an estimate. Did you check the latching mechanism? You've been driving this in this condition? I hope not.

Civics had a TSB for a front latch. Basically, if I remember correctly, you have to take 4 bolts out of the latch mechanism to take it completely out. Before you do it, mark the exact position of the latch mounting.
Clean the latch by giving it an overnight soak in gas, then grease it, check for smooth operation and remount it. Good luck.
