freshly assembled short block question
when you guys assemble short blocks
is it normal for the piston rings to create resistance when spinning the crank by hand?
basically i got my pistons installed in my block, i can spin the crank still but its a lot harder than when i only had the crank installed. i assume this is normal with the fresh hone and new rings i got.
just wanna make sure im not trippin.
TIA

I didn't really notice any increase in the effort needed to rotate my crank by hand when my shortblock was rebuilt last year. Engine builders usually lightly oil the cylinders/ring grooves upon assembly, so maybe your builder didn't use that much oil.
actually i built it myself. i made sure i had ample oil on the walls.
my friend who knows a thing or two came over and said it was all good. the scraping noise was just the rings on the new walls and they all sound like that.
he said i was just tripping out
