Fresh Built H22 Motor
I just got my newly built H22 to start, BUT, it doesn't stay on. it'll start for about 1 second and then die. while it is cranking on it's own, it makes a loud squealing noise, but it's a DULL squealing sound. and it's not as loud as squealing breaks. then it shuts off. this motor was built by a local machine shop. they resleeved it, put new bearings, pistons, rods, etc. does anyone have any ideas on this? i cranked it w/o spark 1st to get oil distributed everywhere. i'm fearing the worst that the cylinder liners are not true. i'm just so worried about that.....i hope to God that's not the case.
Kinda sounds like too tite of clearences for the bearings, but I would have to hear it.
What happens if you give it some throttle wil trying to start it, will it run then?
Also what about when cranking it with the spark plugs out just it squeal then?

thats what i was thinking too.. bearings too large.
are you using aftermarket rod bolts as well?.. and if so,
did you resize the large end after installation of bolts?

PWRVTEC - if i give it gas, it'll do a little better but still shut off after about a second. when i cranked it w/o the spark plugs, i didn't hear the sound.
Bombino - i'm using the rod bolts that came with the Crower rods. i didn't install them, the machine shop did so i dunno if they resized the big end. i don't even know what resizing the big end is.

i'm pretty damn sure it's getting enough spark. what i'm not sure of is if it's getting fuel. i doubt it's an electrical problem although anything's possible.
yeah i hear the fuel pump turn on and i see i'm getting around 42 psi of fuel pressure at the fuel filter. what i don't know is if i have the correct injectors. is there a test outlined in the Helms that'll help me discover if i have the correct ones? i haven't found it.
