Did you check all of your bearing clearances? What kind of oil pressure do you have?

How big are the flakes? I would not worrry about five little flakes, but if you see more then you know you may very well have a problem.

if they keep coming it would be cause for concern but if the oil looks clean on the next couple changes it was probably just regular break in debris

is it possible the last person that changed the oil used a copper sealant on the drain plug or something?

Thats most likely it. Sounds like you have pretty normal oil pressure, i wouldnt look too much farther into it. Just keep and eye on your pressure.

Is it a new pump? Or did you reuse the one that came out of the motor?

reused it but it was with in honda specs. The engine had nothing wrong with it when i built it i just wanted to put pistons and rods in it. It is a F22 if you read my sig you can see all the details. I think i need a fluidampr pulley

how many miles on this fresh rebuild? how sure are you it's a failed oil pump and not a failed bearing?

Do those oil pumps even have brass in them? I thought they were all aluminum geared

if there was "babbit" in the oil it was a bearing on it's way out due to lack of oil...do you have vtec? if so check the screen on the vtec solenoid...i bet there is copper flakes there too.

If it got down all the way to the copper, you should have had worse oil pressure or some sort of knocking i would think...

100 miles. I dont know what happen. i work at a machine shop i measured every thing 10x with the best equipment you can buy. took my time. I just dont know. I had good oil pressure when i fired it up. i used acl bearings. all my clearances where on the upper side of the factory specs but still with in spec. I think it is the factory dampener on the f22.

redzcstandardhatch told me that he blew up 3 oil pumps and 3 sets of main bearing then switch to a fluidampr and never had a problem

Are you running a stock damper pulley at least? I would agree with redzcstandardhatch about making sure you have at least a stock damper or if you have the money a fluidampr/ ati damper.

I had a stock h22 one on it. i dont think the damper looks right now and the rubber looks to be coming out of it has a wobble in it.It did not look like that when i installed it. i have the money to get a fluidamper. will be ordering as soon as i get time to see the out come of this mess. i got another good running f22 i may just hit it with a hone and put in the piston n rods
