Default FPR question

i have a aeromotive fpr regulator, the one that is a direct bolt on to the fuel rail. the other day, i went to check my wot fuel pressure. as i pulled off the vacum hose from the side of the fpr, i noticed that fuel would come out of that hole if i held the vacumm hose close to it. i also noticed, that when i pulled off the hole the engine would stumble and then rev up! i think i might have a defective aeromotive fpr, what do you think?

I think it's time for a new one.

thread hyjack - but since i got you guys here...

what is the max fuel pressure you woudl run on 290cc injectors? i just installed an ITR intake on the B20VTEC and it leaned it out heaps...

i set the FP to 55psi (no vacuum) to keep the AFR in the low 13's to high 12's

i have a WRX fuel pump installed to help the flow...

is 55psi too high?

i don't think it's too high, yesterday i was running 60psi on my 240cc injectors. i also have a 255lph pump, so the base pressure is alittle higher!

Im not a real big fan of running high pressures, but 55 is not that bad.It just decreases fuel pump and injector life.
why dont you tune the maps instead of raising the pressure? You'll get better results

High presure going to be harder on the pump than the injectors. I've run mine as high as 80psi.

Trying to get the most out of my stock injectors with the turbo.

BTW i just received my fpr back from aeromotive, they fixed it free of charge. i really didn't think it would come back so soon, they fixed it and returned it in three businness days

cheers guys...

i have heard that over 60psi the injector spray patterns become less than desireable...?

the reason i cant tune the maps is im using a VAFC and it started throwing a code once we went past 15% fuel enrichment...

I think you may be near the point where you either need bigger injectors and/or Hondata or something similar that will increase your fuel maps. Running high fuel pressures will work, but it will be a strain on the fuel system and you will usually get shitty milage as well. I am now a believer of bigger injectors and lower fuel pressures. Of course, if you go too big, you need some way to control the duty cycles, ie. Hondata, AEM, e-manage(probably the cheapest, but not best)
