Default Flywheel Questions

Alrighty, I have a n00b question. I don't know much about flywheels, but i'm wondering if they do alot? What would a 8lb flywheel do for the car as far as quarter mile times? Do they add hp, or is it just a wieght issue. I don't remember the equation as to how much weight it takes off per gear, but any reviews on any flywheels?

Search for flywheels, there have been some serious indepth answers to your question.

Mainly they increase hp and trottle response......indirectly.

Lighter the flywheel the more likely you are going to be going throught clutches.

your motor revs quicker. i thought having a lightened flywheel would actually be easier on a clutch. i once read that for every pound taken off the flywheel, it was equivalent to taking 100 lbs off the car (easier on clutch).
