lightweight flywheel Question ?
i have a b18c in a 95 civic hatchback and im considering a ACT clutch and spoon lightweight flywheel. It seems as though it is a beneficial addition but ive read some things about buying scattershields because since the flywheel is so lightweight it has a tendency to shatter ????. This would obviously kill or put huge holes in the driver and passenger if it were to happen and it scares the hell out of me. Is this a legit worry ?? or does it only apply to high high horspower cars ???. I dont want to buy a lightweight flywheel if there is even a remote chance of this happening. Has anyone ever heard of this happening ??
thanks for any info you can provide

Re: lightweight flywheel Question ? (jonnyc)
A lightweight flywheel is just a flywheel made from a lighter material such as titanium, aluminum and so on.
I would not worry about it, unless you a running a serious amount of HP.
Just don't buy a flywheel that was lightened by removing material from the original flywheel, those flywheels IMO are unsafe.

..and your setup should work correctly--you have a jdm b16a. The Jun flywheel tears up USDM starter gears, but it works w/ the jdm gears.

the way it lines up with the usdm motor/starters. If you have a jdm motor/starter you
should be fine. I also hear that the JUN flywheels are good stuff too

unless you run the car up to 10k rpm+, you shouldn't have to worry.
i had a buddy install a scattershield over his tranny in his FC Rx-7...and he needed it. that car was a freakin' beast. his redline rpm was limited by his underbuilt tranny.
