Default flywheel dust cover install?

i bought a flywheel dust cover for my b16a. The cover i got is from a b16a2. Im assuming it will fit but i got under my car yesterday and it looks like u have to take off the oil pan to get it to fit on, is this true? Can anyone shed some light on how to install it, i didn't expect it to be complicated at all

you don't have to take the oil pan, it's just a few 4-5 bolts.

yeah, it uses the same studs, or bolts, that hold the oil pan on, but you don't have to remove the oil pan.

the little tabs on the ends of the cover have holes in them. locate the appropriate bolts (the ones that match up to those holes) on the oil pan. take out those bolts. hold the dust cover flush to the tranny and oil pan. replace said bolts. you will understand if you look under the car.

no pics, you shouldn't need a picture.

You shouldn't have to drain the oil. But, might as well change the oil while you're under there.

always a good idea... i dont think oil sits in the pan that high where the cover is? but i guess couldnt hurt changing the oil while your getting dirty...

For an hour today i tried to put that thing on it was a major pain , and it wouldn't fit. Im just going to leave it off. Its been off for a year and hasn't affected anything yet.
I cant put it on without taking off the rear engine stiffener, and i cant take off the rear engine stiffener without taking off the header

Y not i have been doing it for 2 1/2 years now no probs. Also i am always working on it and something as trivial as that just gets on my nerves like my T belt covers i just threw them away.

I've done it before when doing clutch jobs. It takes a little bit of wiggling to get it up in there.

You take off like 5 bolts (2-17mm and 4-12mm I think), remove the front stiffener, wiggle it in and put it back together again.

yeah, take out both stiffeners, slide the bish in there and bolt it up.

I put mine back on after changing my clutch in like 5 mins.

it would be easy if i could get my stiffeners off without taking the header off, i loosened both bolts on my rear stiffener and one dropped right onto my header and is too long to get out( sorry if this is hard to understand). I really would like to get it on though

So unbolt your header just enough for you to get the bolts out <shrug>

You don't need to take the whole thing OUT, if you just unbolt it from the head and from the rest of the exhaust you should be able to move it enough to get the space needed.
