Fixed my understeering civic..
ever since i put my DC2-R Tein HA's on my car back in 2002 my car handled good, but too bumpy and understeered bad!
after than i installed gsr front lca's along with a 24mm sway bar, type r real lca's ( when i did then Tein's) with a 22mm itr rear sway bar.
these two mods made a big difference! the car handeled alot better, reduced body roll alot, but the car still understeered bad.
early 2004 i changed out my front 24mm sway bar in favor of a stock 21mm civic si bar. which seemed to make the car rotate a little bit better, but still not to my liking.
when i bought the Tein HA's i was told by the previous owner and many other people to run the 8 kgf/mm spring up front and the 6 kgf/mm sping out back. (448 lbs front and 336 lbs rear)
so last night i was fed up.. i was tired of my car handeling like crap, my friends gti vr6 felt like it handel 10x better.
i decided to swap my springs, put the 6k's up front and 8k's out back. while i was at it i installed a gsr steering rack. i reset my ride height and aligned the wheels as best i could. now time for the test drive...
WOW!! OMG.. it turns! the car rotates.. it even swung the back end out and around, i felt like i was driving a rwd car. theres one turn by my house, right off the freeway its a sharp right hand 5mph turn banked to the left, really fun to take. my car used to push really bad and the front wheels would slide out under me and push the car into the other lane, even if i tapped the brake with my left foot to try and get the car to rotate.. nothing, bad push.
i tried it again tonight.. same turn, same speed as i usualy do. turned in, the back end followed the front and i flew thru the turn faster than i ever did. not one sign of understeer. i was so happy, i went back and tired it again, this time i went in really fast and the rear slide around, i countersteered left and slide thru the turn.
so i thought i would share on how i got my car to handel to my liking and not understeer.
cliff notes- took front and rear spring and flipped them front to back. 6k front and 8k rear. now car doesnt understeer.
