Final drive JDM Type-R kit with first gear also?

Final drive JDM Type-R kit with first gear also?
I was wondering why final drive JDM Type-R kits are sold with the first gear also. Is there anything special with that first gear? I am about to buy a used JDM Type-R final drive & countershaft and I want to be sure that I don't need that first gear. I currently have a Type-R 4.4 tranny.
