I have an SFC on a (stock) p28 runs fine no drivability problems but when I hit it (W.O.T.) all the way up the RPM band, the check engine light comes on. It won't happen when it's (sfc) off and it happens alot sooner in the rpm band if it's cold. The check engine light is a "soft code" 21 and 22. Meaning if I shut the engine off the check engine light goes off. Has anyone run into this?
21 VTEC solenoid valve (Integra)
22 Front valve timing oil pressure switch (Integra)
I was getting similar codes when I had accidentlly set the VTEC crossover way too low on my Field. Apparenlt it's possible to set the cross over to whatever the current rpm is while driving and this can happen accidentally.

this is something along those lines.. I thought that if there wasnt enough oil pressure, as in the lower RPMS, it wasnt physically possible to switch over to the large cams.
I noticed if my car isnt fully warmed up I dont hear it (CAI) switch over at 6k. You think thats oil pressure related or just engine temp?

I have it set a little higher than stock about 500rpm more.
Also a funny thing, the rpm is off about 500-1000rpm more? compared to the cluster

Muckman, low oil or being below normal operating temp will definitely cause VTEC to no engage, but that should be the case whether the Field unit is on or off.
T.O., That's strange that the rpm on the field is off... it's supposed to be very accurate, much more so than the tach. Maybe check the ground and connections on the Field.

yeah, if your SFC is displaying rpms 500-1000 more than your OEM tach, it's quite likely that the SFC settings are off... go back an re-establish the settings appropriate for your car... this sort of thing happened to me by accident on my VAFC and the problem was that the settings were for a V6, not a 4 cylinder... so go back through the directions and set it up again...
