Default fidanza friction disk replaceability and lifespan

What's the lifespan of the fidanza friction disk? a while back I installed the Al flywheel with an exedy stage 1 clutch and it feels like the clutch will need to be replaced soon, starting to get some serious chatter and engagement inconsistencies, similar to when my OEM clutch started to wear out.. haven't heard of many people actually replacing the friction disk, but should I be looking to replace it if I wanted to keep the flywheel (ie. is it similar to brake rotors where if using new pads you'd need to resurface rotors?) I'd probably be going back to an OEM clutch.. this is on an 99 Si(R) B16a2

Thanks!

everything can be summed up in how you drive...they can either last 8 yrs or what not or 8 days...

right, I agree.. mine was mostly highway driving, and no drag style launches.. my question was if it is necessary to change if similar to how one should resurface a rotor when changing out pads

You can just have it resurfaced. You don't need a new one unless you have already had it out and resurfaced before.

ahh, so resurface with the friction disk still attached? I thought I'd have to remove it to resurface, don't remember how sunken in those screws were

even when you replace the friction disk you will still have to check the run out of the face and possibly resurface it there even...i dont see one surfacing job doing any harm but only as far until it cleans up(usually around .005" depending on clutch materials) those c'sink bolts should be in a good 1/64th depth...if in doubt always email fidanza on their website! my .02 cents this is just from experience my friend...

perfect, thanks for all the responses. The clutch I'm currently using is an exedy stage one and it feels like engagement is starting to go, seems to point to the springs starting to go. The clutch I am thinking to go with now is the exedy OEM or possibly Honda OEM. Thoughts on this setup or the exedy OEM?

Thanks!
