i guess you're running a b20b bottom end, becuse with the b20z you won't be able to run ctr cams! unless you enlarge the valve reliefs, or get a set of pistons!</TD></TR></TABLE>
we are running the jdm bottom end... so either way.....

what's the cr on the jdm bottom end? some people say it's the same as the usdm b20z! if they are both the same, it won't be long before i get a set of ctr cams!

Re: (smokey2.0)
thats right, it is a good point, 'cause WE all know that the JDM blocks either 8.8 or 9.6 (or in some cases 9.2) to 1 compression ratios,
and the only way to tell was by looking at the top of the pistons...
so, yeah - Furry what did the top of your pistons say?

95.5-98 JDM B20B are 8.8:1 p3f compression pistons
Rated at 126hp
99-00 JDM B20B are 9.6:1 PHK compresion pistons
Rated at 146hp
97-98 USDM B20B are 8.8:1 p3f compression pistons
Rated at 126hp
99-00 USDM B20Z are 9.6:1 PHK compression pistons
Rated at 146hp
geezus u guys sound like a bunch of women whining. you would think u guys know what u are talking about if you are running the setup?

and you claim to have revved to 12000rpm on a mis-shift with pistons designed for 31mm valves?
you are one lucky guy!

Re: (Furry in your eye)
I've got about 3K-4K miles on my B20B. 12:1 JE's recently seeing 6500-7000 (non VTEC), oh and thats with the MAP sensor disconnected!
Also the crank is same as LS. so are rods. So if you trust those, then trust these.

Hehehe
When I clayed my motor it was impact time!!!
I have 20 thou off the deck and 12 thou off the head with Z pistons. I ended up taping up the short motor and relieving the pistons a little more with a die grinder. CC'd the pistons in the block and all is good....I think.....I'll know tomorrow

Re: (smokey2.0)
Toda A's Chuck?
i think that is what he is running...
seems to have taken a fair amount off the surfaces, so it would be expected that clearance becomes an issue with the PHK pistons...

i'll be switching to a 3 layer b20 head gasket(using 2 now), rev flat face valves, springs and retainers! no adj cam gears, and stock head(not milled)!

Re: (smokey2.0)
well that makes it very easy then doesnt it!
when you take the head off, for the new HG, put hte CTR cams in and re-assemble the engine and check for valve clearance!!!
do this using 'clay' or as i used - plasticene...
this MUST be doen with the VTEC 'on' - you do this by removeing the rocker arm and the rockers and switching over the steel pistons that are inside tehm so that the lobes are attached as one.
there are a few topics already on this proceedure so have a search and ask questions as required.
but basically you 'might' have clearance problems - so check - and if you do, it will be a simple matter of enlarging the valve reliefs, either in the block or out...
