It's mounted to the throttle body directly under it with 3 bolts. It's been a long time but I think 2 screws and you can pop the cover off it and then screw the valve back in.

It's right under the throttle body screwed into it. It's very easy to fix. I think 3 screws/bolts and its off. From there you can take it apart and clearly see the valve and how it needs to be screwed back in. I've done it plenty of times.

Had I gotten to this thread earlier thats what I would have told you to look at first.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I dont think I have one, there is nothing under my throttle body, there's some coolant hoses that run thru under the throttle body, but theres nothing for me to take off except the map and tps sensor....

nobody has a picture?

dude, I too was trying to find the FAST IDLE Thermal Valve...

Well, according to the HELMS 98 Type r manual.... there is NO SUCH thing for GSRs and Type Rs.

It shows up only the the Automatics there is some kind of extra thing on the bottom of the Throttle Body.

So.... if you got a 98+ GSR or Type R swap, give up.... cause it don't exist on the Manuals...

I just bought a del sol and when i'd turn it on, it'd idle at 3k for like 5 seconds, then climb to 3.5, then start surging from 2.5-3.5 after like a total of 7 seconds. then as it got warmer the range of rpms would gradually drop till it got to 1-2k. i looked everywhere on here and finally found this topic. when i took the FITV valve off i shook it and the valve would slide in and out. i put a whole new throttle body on and it fixed the problem. thanks!!!

Im having the same problem, but the FITV has been checkd and it looks fine. My idle starts at 4k and when the IAC is unplugged the idle drops to 2k and stays there.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Would like to thank fred92htch for posting the solution to erratic idling in my Honda Prelude 1991.

That's exactly was the problem

Much apriciate the share of knowledge.

Cheers

"Take the screws out, remove the plate and there is a spring loaded plunger inside with a ring around it holding it in place. There are two slots, one on each side of the ring. Use a small slot screwdriver to turn the ring and screw it back down into the valve cylinder. "

Hey guys I have a 99 Civic Ex with the stock D16y8. I currently bolted on a Skunk2 Intake manifold with a 68mm throttle body. I have it all in and fits perfectly... The only problem is when i start the car the RPS shoot up to 2500. its set idle is at 1500... WHY? I had used the stock plate on the back of the TB and it just screws into the TB. I had adjusted it to the lowest idle, but still idles at around 1500RPMs... NEED HELP!!! i want my idle to be around 800-850rpms...

My D16y8 has all stock valve train and block. Would that effect anything over time?
I have a full Skunk2 Exhaust with DC Sport 4-2-1 header with a AEM short ram intake...
I also have an Apex'i Vtec controller to help...

Im running a SKunk2 manny with a S2 68mm TB and i have that same idle problem. The rpms bounce from 1500-2000 at start up then when warm the rpms bounce from 1000-1500... WTF!!! some one told me it was a IACV and it needed cleaning or just to get a new one! I have tried alot of things tho.....
