Default exhaust question

can anyone tell me the benefit of having a 2.5 inch piping on an axle back rather than a 2 1/4? cause the spoon n1 has a 2.5 inch piping and the exhaust that i have now signal auto has a 2 1/4, how can my car benefit from it if the stock b pipe is still being used for both exhaust?

what is your displacement? A strait through on a (with cat) 1.8 liter or smaller N/A should be no bigger than 2 1/4 if you are going to turbo you would want a bigger exhaust.

if you plan on keeping the stock b pipe then just get a new muffler....other wise do the whole exhaust.

When SPOON and Mugen developed their rear sections they decided that the stock b pipe had enough flow for their system. I have a Mugen exhaust(which only comes as rear section) and it makes plenty of power in terms of exhaust systems. Other exhausts may make 2 more horse in other sections of the power band, but I don't think it's that important.

Now let's consider this: The JDM aftermarket and OEM JDM headers have a 2.5" collector. Their rear sections they sell are 2.5" piping. More than likely their b pipe is 2.5". If you want a 2.5" pipe, just go to an exhaust repair company in your town, I'm sure you can get one for about $50.

the whole point in getting a mandrel bent exhaust is that extra 2 hp.
I would still only go with a 2.25 even if JDM is 2.5

I just don't think that .25" is going to hurt performance on a VTEC engine. 3" yeah, but not 2.5"...IMO.

ok, if jdm cars use 2.5 inch, then why is the flange on the spoon n1 2.25 then opens up to 2.5? wouldn't that interrupt the flow of the exhaust? reason why i am asking this question is my signal auto axleback is 2.25 mandrel bent, and the spoonn1 is 2.5 mandrel bent, is the .25 going to even make a difference? 500 for a spoonn1 with 2.5 and 300 for the signal auto both look the same with just a few minor differences like the tip and the pipeing, are you paying 200 more for just the name if you all say .25 doesn't make a real difference? in my opinion the signal auto company is just as good as spoon.

you are paying for both name and quality in work.....look at them both and see which is more strait.....if the muffler isn't a strait through with perferations then you don't want it.....the muffler is the key to the performance exhaust.
