testpipe vs gutted cat. con. or hi-flo cat. con.
i know they are realitively the same...but is there any difference (i.e. backpressure, tourque loss/gain)...thanks

gutted cat will hurt some perfoamance b/c it creates exhaust turbulence and will hurt the exhaust flow. a car-sound cat's cfm numbers flow just about as well as a straight pipe and doesn't have the nasty smell/sound.

Comparing a 2.5 in. testpipe (RED) to a 2.5 in. Carsound cat (BLUE) in the same ITR ( 1.8L B18C5 ) with a CAI, an SMSP 4-2-1 long hybrid header (2.5 in. OD collector), and SMSP 2.5 in. OD exhaust:
