Default engine won't start

just dropped a d16z6 into my hatch...got everything put on...tried to start it and it won't even crank over at all...not the battery, brand new battery, not to mention headlights and everything else works...didn't think it was the starter, because it wasn't making any noise at all. but if anybody has had a similar problem or has any insight on the situation please feel free to post. thanks.

First, are you getting voltage/current on the starter and/or solenoid. Put a multimeter on the terminal and look for battery voltage.

You don't need the multimeter to tell if the starter/solenoid works. You need it to tell you if there is voltage getting there (you can use a test light as well-very cheap but effective) That will tell you where to go next. Most likely there is no voltage getting to the starter solenoid. Find the circuit that opens the voltage for that solenoid. I don't have the helms in front of me, but that is your next step. You can hope for that magic bullet diagnosis, but from reading most the posts on this forum, that's not going to happen.

Good luck.

The starter is fine, it was swapped with a perfect condition one from an engine that was just pulled.

I believe that there may be wires loose around the ignition switch.. I will check it out and post what I find.

finally got it going...the retard who owned it before had something rigged to the clutch sensor and had cut one of the clutch wires, so after taking the dash out and a couple of hours we got it going
