Engine Swap question????? Please Help
First off I am not a Honda guy so any help would definetly be appreciated. I have a friend with a 98 Civic EX it has a 1.6 SOHC Vtec motor that decided to take a dump. My question is, will a B16a be transferable into this car without any major modifications? And if someone has done this swap before I was wondering if they could shed some light on what all needs to be done to make it work. The motor he is picking up is complete everything tranny, shift linkage, motor, ECU. I guess my real question is how close to a direct bolt in would this motor be to his car???
Thanks in advance

its pretty basic. im not much help because i have only helped with swaps but i can tell you that you should be able to use the stock mounts, the stock harness, and the axles should bolt right up. i personally suggest having someone that knows exactly what they are doing to help you swap it in.
correct me if im wrong anyone.

I am not worried about the physical labor involved. I helped a friend pull out and put back together his girlfriends B18 twice in one week
that sucked. I have done my fair share of wrenching on cars. My concern is more along the lines of is there any bumps that we might encounter or major fabrication that needs to be done? My main concern mostly is the ECU is it just a direct replacement?

it depends. no major fabrication will be needed, but if the motor is obd1 then youll need an obd2-obd1 conversion harness because the car is obd2. the wires pretty much feed through the engine bay to the passenger side floor where the ecu is located. that will be the toughest part i think.
Cool that is what I wanted to hear
The motor came out of a 00 SI and his EX is a 98 so it is a OBD2 car so no worries there. If there is any other tid bits of info somebody could throw in I would appreciate it.
