Default Engine Stalling

Gents,

Please excuse my ignorance, but I have a problem with my 1990 Honda Civic (150K miles)

Approximately 1 month ago, the ingition coil got fried, had to replace the Distributor cap and rotar along with coil. A few days later was driving down the interstate and it quit (loss of power). Pulled over to the side and put it in park, shut off key and then restarted it, with no problem. It's been doing that ever since, a few times it was hard to start. I also replaced the plugs, wires, and fuel filter. Can someone possibly give me a few suggestions on how to troubleshoot this thing.....

thanks for the help

Did you have the alternator checked? I had a 88 civic and it used to randomly not start/or stall, id wait a few and it would start right up it ended up being the alternator

Yes, I had it checked a few weeks ago, and everything seemed ok.......I'm guessing it's a loose connection under the distributor cap or even a cracked cap..

Did you check that the four wire connectors on the igniter are tight?

I checked all connectors and wires, the only extremely loose wire was one of the 4 wires on the ignitor. I tried clamping it down, got it somewhat tighter, but I might need a new connector.

If it was that loose, could that have been my problem?????

thanks

Would one extremely loose wire cause it to stall and run like ****, like it is now??

Can I go to an auto parts store and get those connectors or is there some trick to the trade as far as getting those connectors to stay on tight...

Semper Fi....
I've seen them do that, just squeeze the connector lightly with pliers and push it back on. It needs to be a snug fit.

I've tried making it snug as possible, but it's not snug enough. Can I solder it on or possibly get a new connector?

Also, since you've seen honda do that before, could that be most likely my problem....

This is a strange one. Also since your up bright and early like myself....My ECU, I don't see a series of red lights flashing, can I remove the protective cover and then look for a series of numbers to possibly further troubleshoot it......

thanks for the help
