EG6 - Wont start
Hi a have a honda civic EG6 with a B18C6 ITR engine in, the engine has bin in there from 2003 and i always has startet, but i left it by my mome for a week ago, an come pick it up friday and the car startet quick, and was running about 2 sec and died, turned the key again and it will not start, what can it be? the car has gone around 200.000KM and the engine has done like 120.000km, but the Distributor Cap and rotor is from the original motor (200.000km) can it only be the Distributor Cap and maybe a new rotor, have a pic from the Distributor Cap but not a good picture from the rotor...

take ur alternator in and have it tested. a weak battery combined with a bad alternator will cause that.
or a short in your wiring can do that as well.
Does you fuel pump prime?

how do i test it
yes i tghink my fuel pump primes, but how do i chek it, anyways look at ht ephotos and i thing that you can see the problem, think that there problem is the rotor and the cap

does it even crank or just nothing at all when you turn the key? if it cranks, id check to see if your getting any fuel. you should be able to hear the fuel pump prime. its located under the back seat. listen for it, if it aint priming check the fuse. if its not cranking at all, you probly want to start simple and check you battery and alternator like my man obuhmyuh said. If they check out good, then work your way into the switch located behind the cluthch pedal and also look at your fuses and your main relay.

I have checked the spark wirer with a extern spark plug, and its no spark, so it must be some by the cap/rotor og befor that right? but what do you say to the 2 pictures? Not in so good condition huuh??

id go ahead and change it out anyways. it looks old and done with. it dont cost that much. give it a good tune up and get back with us. good luck

it's almost always the ignitor.
no spark, test the ignitor. if the ignitor's good, test the coil... this is the diagnostic flow for this condition. don't waste money, find the real cause of your problem and replace that part.
i've never done one on the motor you have, but if you have a repair/service manual for that engine or a similar one you should be able to find the wires to test (if you don't have the manual you should probably get it if you plan to fix anything else..)

I agree with hondamark35....for easy way...grab a tester. Start testing the harness wires going to the igniter 1 by 1, then after the igniter. See if the spark still flows after that....if it does. with ur dizzy cap off, have someone crank it, check the rotor make sure it turns while ur cranking it. (if doesnt u have timing belt problem.) but if it does, then assemble ur dizzy back up. and check all spark plug wires for spark.

i, too was thinking it was dizzy related, but the car was running before he let it sit for a while, leading me to believe its a batt/alternator issue firstly, then moving along to dizzy. its as simple as jumping ur car.
