Default Engine Rotation Direction Question

I was wondering what direction a b series (specifically a B17) engine rotated. And what direction a 4AG (specifically a 4-AGZE) rotates. Any info would be very helpful.

What about where it goes into the trans... basically I need to know if a b series spins the same way into the trans as a 4ag

No, it does not. Most all engines in cars spin clockwise when viewing the front of the engine (pulley/accessory end), and counter-clockwise when viewing the rear of the engine (transmission end).

Pre-2000 Honda engines are one of the oddballs in the engine world, spinning CCW when looking at the front, CW when looking at the rear. Since 2000, the K-series engine started going into several Honda models, which rotates clockwise like most engines.

So the answer is, B-series engines rotate the opposite direction from 4AG (and all other) Toyota engines and transmissions.

Thanks for the info... so I take it there is no way to make the b series on a yota trans work.. What honda motors spin clockwise?

there is a way and i want to figure it out, it has nothing to do with fuel or the motor just timing and starter/adaptor plate. This is not the first time I have seen a b series spin the other direction usually the only problem is finding a tranny to go backwards

Is there any harm in rotating the crank the wrong direction?

The crank by itself? Probably not. But if everything is hooked up then you risk problems like timing jumping teeth on the timing belt, and possible piston/valve interference. The T-belt tensioner pulley will not operate properly if the engine is rotated backwards.
