Default engine overheating/ missing

Ok I have a 94 civic cx and as I was coming home last night it started to smoke. Immediately I pulled over and checked to see what was wrong. I went to check the coolant and it was bone dry. Luckily my friend pulled up next to me and had some pre diluted coolant so we poured some in and let it cool down. I just made it home before it started to overheat again and then checked it out today. I think there is some kind of leak but don't know exactly where it is because the shroud under the car causes the water to drip everywhere so there's a puddle all the way across the front of the car. Also, when it idles at a certain temperature, it starts to miss and when I turn the air on it idles smoothly. Any ideas of what it could be?
