What's up honda tech I've been having this problem the past two months and it happens every other day maybe twice a week. Ill be driving and for a tenth of a second my engine light will light up and shut off. It basically as fast as an eye blink! Any ideas?
1997 civic Dx with stock 1998 gsr b18c1 swap.

 

Is it always the same flash?
Is it a flash or a flicker?

If more like a flicker I would think bad cluster/ground/PCM
If a flash, bad PCM

 

Its just a really fast flicker, everything on my cluster is works perfectly fine. So the negative battery cable could cause this issue?

 

I was referring to something more along the lines of a bad solder joint or one of the dozens of other grounds in the car.

Is the flicker consistent?

 

I hoping you werent gonna say that lol But nothe flicker will happen periodically it never continues in a short amount of time. Ex. It flicker once then two days later flicker again.

 

does the car run fine when it does it?

Same duration and brightness every single time. And How would I pull th code without the engine light actually being on, because I usually jump it with a paper clip then it flashes the code or codes.

 

Yea I have no problems with the car, I think Im gonna plug up a p72 to see if it picks up any codes, right now i have a chipped p-28.

 

Go to autozone or parts store and ask them to scan it, it possibly will have pending codes stored in memory.

 

Sounds like bad PCM, that is not a normal thing
