Default engine light comming on

I have a 86 civic SI HB. the engine light on the car says PGM-FI and it turns on when i go on a 30min trip but when i turn off car. it goes away and comes back on later when i drive more. Anyone know what is the problem? The car runs great with 232k miles! Im also trying to find the connection for the computer so i can connect the diagnostics to see whats wrong. thanks in advance

Your Civic does not have the Service Check Connector. but under the seat or under the passenger side carpet in where the ecu should be. You have to read the blinking LED light from the ecu to know what the code is.

OK, i found the ecu under the passenger seat. Do i check the lights when the engine lights come on and car is still running? Because if i turn off the car and turn ignition the engine light is gone.. thanks

Just turn the ignition on and check the code/s. It should have it stored in memory.
