Engine has trouble starting. WTF?
Hey guys,
First of all this is my first post on this forum so what's up to everyone.
Here's my problem, i have a 93 accord with a JDM H22 in it. I'm having trouble getting the car to start (particularly in the mornings). I changed my battery, but still have the same problem. I took it to a mechanic and he tells me that since the battery i bought isn't specific to my motor ( i bought the battery according to the model car, not the model motor) he can't determine if i'm having a starter problem because the motor isn't getting enough juice to it. He tells me to buy one of those optima batteries and i still have the problem after, then it would be the starter.
Anyone here experience this before?
BTW - All i have running to the battery is my alarm, my HID's, and my amp.

Sounds like the mechanic doesn't want to help and has poor advice.
You might need to explain hard to start symptoms. Example: Slow to crank, no crank only ticking, turn key has power but no stater action.
Is the battery in the stock location with stock cables
Start by checking the voltage before attempting to start it. If it is not somewhere at above 13v then there is something draining your battery. If you have enough volts but no stater action then it maybe the stater. If after you start the car it does not get above 13v its probably your alternator.
It possibly could be the cold cranking apps are to little, check to see what they should be for the size motor you are running and compare to what you have. Although you are in FL. this shouldn't be an issue.

thanks, you've given me better advice than the mechanic. The mechanic also mentioned to me that it could possible be that my battery cables could be corroded (since i just move to Florida from NY).
The mechanic did the exact same tests that you had just mentioned and the car was consistently putting out about 14volts, he tried the test about 3 times.
The car wouldn't start in the mornings, i would have to push start it (something that's very hard to do when you don't live on a hill and don't know anyone cuz you're new to the state). Thanks for the input. My car's in the shop as we speak getting a new starter put in.
