Default for the engine bulders/ring question

my 81mm open deck gsr has oil getting into # 2 combustion chamber, i have had the head checked twice now and guides are new and seal have been replaced
compression and leak down came back 180 accross and 8% across, but i have it narrowed down to that oil ring or sumthin with one of the rings.
NOW my engine builder wants to fix it so thats kool but he wants to use a .020 over ring and file it down to fit, is this ok to me it just seem like alot more filing but it is for a 81.5 instead of 81 so im not sure.
Basically i have 9:1 je in the block but the guy used speed pro rings and he's now thinkin that the actual width of the rings are like the jes, so they are not sitting in the ringlands/grooves right.
what do you guys think so i just get new 81mm je rings and slap em on there, or should i let him do the .020 over and file them, i mean i can't see the .020 over hurting anything but ive personally never filed rings so i don't know
thanx in advance-jason

It is alway better to get over size ring and filed it down to the right spec. All cylinder are different in size. It look like you are going to boost, best thing is to filed them to correct spec. And make sure the gap are not line up.

yea im definately boostin
i just didn't know if it was ok to do so, like i said i would imagine and in theory it seems like it's ok to do BUT i have never done it so figured id ask
definately goin boost though so i guess a little looser on the gap is recommended, but like i said we used speed pro rings on je pistons and i think that the actual width of the rings are diff., not causing them to seal right, or sumthin with the scraper ring it's not doin it's job leaving all that oil on the cyl walls.
well i am gonna try and get sum .020 rings and have him file em down and see how she likes it
hopefully she does cuz i am tired of this **** already
