Engine building tools?
I'm picking up a b18a block to build because i'm not really sure how long the b18b1 block in my civic will last due to buying it from someone I used to respect, but now not so sure about.
I am going to get this thing sleeved and bored to 2.0L no matter what, but still not sure when it will get boosted, so I need to know what tools I will need in order to build it myself
So far I have looked @ getting the following:
- Piston ring filer
- Ring installer
- Ring compressor
- Feeler gauges
- Torque wrench
- Plastigage
- Dial bore gauge
- Digital caliper (0-6in. accurate to .001)
- Rod bolt stretch gauge
- Telescoping gauge kit
I was looking @ micrometers, but they are expensive and from what I understand so far, the plastigage and digital caliper should compensate for the micrometers.
Is there anything else I might need?

thanks for the link
looks like I need micrometers, but from other research it looked like I needed 0-5 in. micrometer sets, but that link says 0-3 which is much more affordable

*****- Dial bore gauge/torque wrench **** excellent... these are your best friend and dont forget it
you may also want to invest in a quality set of micometers
0-3 is good.. but idk if u can find a set of only 3?

Being a machinist gets expensive. If you dont plan on making a living measuring stuff i wouldnt go out and buy any mics. just take it to a machine shop and let them do it.

im not planning on making a living do it, but my brother, friends of mine, and myself are all into hondas so the more I learn about rebuilding an engine, the better off we all will be in the end
everything on that list looks good to go man except for those telescoping gauges they are not to be used on building these motors thats a complete joke...get a nice set of .0001" incremented micrometers(if its out of the budget wait a little and save some cash) and a good dial bore gage also reading into the .0001" increments for your cyl. bores, rod end bores, etc. nothing less then that tolerance for tools should be used for measuring clearances and checking...calipers will never replace mic's...and when you buy the rod bolt stretch gage get a 2 lb. spring or higher it will stay on the bolt nicer and not give out inaccuracies...just my .02 cents
