For you out there who have but b17 crank and rods in a b16 with ctr pistons.... what does it look like with the pistons installed and you have it set to TDC? My piston doesn't sit flush with the top of the block... It sits a little below it.... I was just checking out this other b16 i have (stock) with the head off and the pr3 pistons come up to the top and sit flush with the top of the deck... is that right...
also if i torqued the head studs (arp) down but didn't start the engine at all can i take the head off and still use the head gasket or is it to late cause' it's been torqued down?
TIA....
shane

my cousin has a b16 block with a b17 crank, b17 rods, and the itr pistons .They were pretty much flush with the deck.About how much does the piston look it sits down?Do you have pics?

no pics... I already mounted the head and everything... so i'm not sure if i can take it off cause of the head gasket...
Just because you toruqued it down doesnt mean its not reusable, if you didnt run the engine your ok.But i have never built a b16 with b17 crank etc like in your situation so i cant answer that, but the headgasket is fine.

why else would you buy ARP?

oh cool.. well they shouldn't have stretched yet... but i still need to know about the piston depth....
I hope you didn't build this engine yourself if you can't figure this one out. With the engine at TDC on a B16A/B17 block, the piston should be ~.020" below the deck if the block has not been milled. It's called piston-to-deck height. It's normal. Read a Chilton's or something.
Now if it were sticking out above the deck, you'd have a problem...

the reason i'm asking is cause' in my b16 with the b17 crank, rods, and ctr pistons.... the piston sits below a little bit... and in this b16 i just got that came over from japan (stock)... I took the head off and the piston sits flush with the block.... i just thought that was a little wierd.... that's all....
