Default Engine builders: bearing clearance ???'s

I've got a GSR block with a balanced type r crank. With ACL bearings, the oil clearances are WAY too tight on the mains. I had gotten the bearings through a friend from Camp 1320, and my friend mentioned the tight clearance problem to Tom (from Camp) the other day. He said to sand the outside of the bearing with 1200 grit sandpaper to obtain the proper clearance. I've never heard of this, but Tom said many engine builders do this.

Input?

Thanks in advance.

What if you sand uneven?

get the right sized bearings.

Have the machine shop polish the journals enough to take out a couple of ten-thou, or however much you need.
