Default Emissions question

We have a carbed 1985 CRX that we are trying to get tested for emissions. The car is failing the idle test because of excessive carbon monoxide levels. Does anyone know how to reduce CO emission, without causing any of the other readings (HC, NOX) to rise?

you're running to rich have the smog techs to check the O2 with a DSO scope to see if its working properly and also have them do the one of the four catalytics tests to check the efficiency of it. i would check the neddle seats they may be leaking too. if it is a carb vehicle.
