egr valve????
Watup gurus. just a few questions.
Whats is an egr valve, what does it do/control, and what kinda emissions related problems can it cause? (i've been told my car failed emissions because of this
)
If anyone has a pic that would be real helpful or even a link to a helms manual that i can download, it would be gretly appreciated.
thanks
ps: 94 gsr (the bucket, wooo!!!)

Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve
I reroutes a small amount of exhaust gas back thru the combustion chamber again to burn off any leftover oxygen. If your car failed emmisions because of it, its likely the valve stuck open and is letting too much exhaust gas back into the combustion chamber. Time to go junkin!

EGR = Exhaust gas recirculation
It returns burnt gases(Exhaust) back into the intake manifold to lower combustion temperatures.
Four things need to be checked for.
1. Signal from ecu to vac solenoid
2. Vacuum from solenoid. Should be at 7 in.hg
3. EGR valve is not stuck
4. Ports in intake manifold. Usually plugged up from carbon.
EDIT:It is designed to reduce Nox, But when it is not operating properly it can raise CO also.
