Default Ecu chipping!!!

When you chip an ecu r u adding a component or replacing it with one? How do you program the chip before you install it? I am interested i ngetting into ecu chipping can anyone give me an example or tell me where to seearch on how to do it?

When you chip an ECU you much desoder the board(thru holes). Then add components. Depending on what ECU your doing its a 28pin DIP Socket, ZIF Low Profile 28pin DIP Socket, Atmel AT29C256 EEPROM, 2 capacitors, 1 resistor and a jumper wire.

You will need some type of program that will create a file that you can burn to your chip. Then you will need a burner compatible with the chips your running.

is there a way to edit the rom without removign it fro mthe ecu like if u wanted to plug in a laptop and run it with the car on? Like a hookup u can add while chippign the ecu?
