ecu chip off ebay
i wanted to know if those ecu chips for integras on ebay are for real they say its a spoon but maybe its a copy. does it give u the same results. they are only 19.99.
thanks...
thanks...
i was looking about them at them too, but then i read one of the guys feedback, and the negatives did have a lot of ' this chip fried my ecu so i decided against it, how ever some feedback said they worked fine, i was thinking of getting another ecu (run at about $100 for a JDM P72 over here) and trying it, but havent done so yet.
hey, i bought 4 chips from there and they worked GREAT!! but i must advise you, do not buy from the dude called IAMTHEFUTURE or something like that. you can tell who he is because he has a whole bunch of BUY NOW chips for like $15. all he sells is the chip while the others sell everything that you'll need for the installation. IMO since it's only $15 +/- $5, it's a worth while investment because you're saving a WHOLE LOT MORE than sending in your ecu to get it rechipped.

sorry for all the questions, but theres no point emailing the guy selling them as he'll just say theyre brilliant blah blah, and i would be willing to try one on a second ecu. Does anyone know if frying the ecu can cause any engine problems, or could you just swap back in the original ecu and be back to normal?
the chip itself is really easy to install. you don't notice a huge difference if you're running say like a B18B1 motor with a rechiped ecu. but my buddy who's got a B20 with an LS ecu, he felt the difference after i rechipped his ecu. no more boggin, and he can burn rubber at 70mph in 4th gear now(GSR tranny). so yeah he really felt the difference. as for gas mileage, i have noticed a slight increase in fuel consumption. but it really depends on the way you drive too. also a big part in fuel consumption is what type of chip program you're getting. the MUGEN program eats up gas like crazy because it's an all out performance chip redlineing at 10,000k! i've got a PYR chip in mine and it's considered a mild performance chip redlining at 8500k. so yeah, the chips do work to some extent.
another thing though, if you're rechipping a SOHC vtec ecu to run a DOHC motor, it's not going to work as great as just using a DOHC ecu. just food for thought.

The chip shouldn't fry the ECU. Bad soldering can though.

If you're buying the SPOON LS chip, you're getting had. SPOON doesn't make a chip for the LS.

DAFUTURE
Other guys to stay away from.
SimplePCnetworks - Thinks the JDM D15B chip works for the USDM D15
Trumotorsports - Sells SPOON and Skunk2 LS chips
Honda ECU's - Has NO clue what he's doing, but thinks he does
Ihaveeverything - Except a brain. I've fixed 4 of his ECU's already
jdmautoparts - Thinks 90-93 integra ECU's are the same.
chipsnthings - Thinks there's a 90-91 Integra SPOON LS chip.
Unfortunatly there are only a few good Chip sellers on E-bay. If you find something you like, but you're not sure, ask.
for those that have had good experinces buying chips of ebay, I think it would be really helpful to this guy if you list the name of the seller rather than just list the idiots.

also make sure you're grounded when you open up your ECU, static electricity can destroy your ECU.
