Default ECU auto to manual conversion question.

I searched and found this link https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=858920 and i also checked pgmfi.com

I desoldered rp17 and placed that resistor in rp18. I noticed most people use a single strand of wire. Am I ok with using the resistor instead?

Auto ECUs have resistors in RP17 and RP18. Manual ECUs have nothing in RP17 and something that looks like a resistor but isn't in RP18. If you try to use a resistor in place of RP18, you're gonna be F-U-C-K-E-D.

That aint good. So in using the resistor did i fry my ecu? I am getting a code 41 which i find unusual b/c i thought my O2 was fine. But i ask b/c i have been told bad ecu's will also throw this code.

Thanks for your assistance

The resistor won't fry anything, but it's sending a jumper configuration the ECU isn't set up for to my knowledge. That might be your problem.

Code 41 isn't O2 sensor, it's O2 sensor heater circuit. Your ECU isn't seeing any power being grounded through pin A6 org/grn, or you're dealing with a P05 or JDM ECU that hasn't had O2 heater circuit added and is chipped with the wrong code. What's your setup, I can advise.

I feel like an idiot. What i thought was a automatic P28 was actually a virgin manual ecu. This is a friend's ECU and it through the same code in his car. I belive the O2 heater circuit is bad.

I do have a auto P28 which i desoldered and removed rp17. However i left in rp18. I will probably go ahead desolder rp18 as well and just run a piece of wire as suggested in the link at the top.

These are stock p28s for my d16z6 in a '95 EG.
