Default Ebay Clutch

Well I've seen alot of posts from time to time with people asking about ebay clutch kits such as XTD, XTR, F1, etc. Well here are a few pics of my XTD clutch i had in my teg for about 9000 miles. Hopefully this will provide an answer to people asking about ebay clutches. i will say it performed ok before it went out but 9000 miles with light to moderate driving kinda sucks. I cant really be mad this happened i bought a clutch kit w/flywheel for 160 shipped secondly i was about to rebuild my b18c5 for boost so i was going to replace the clutch already, this happening just got me to do things earlier than i wanted. Sorry if the pics look crappy i just took them tonight after taking the rest of my motor apart with my phone.

yeah those things are garbage man. The splines on my buddy's clutch were disintegrating after maybe 10,000 miles.

i guess for me it worked out ok. when i got the clutch i was all motor. now im throwing on a turbo so i was going to need to replace the clutch anyways. so i spent 160 on a ebay clutch kit and now i spent 450 on a competition stage 4 clutch kit. if i bought a 400 dollar stage 2 kit 2 years ago and now had to upgrade it to a better one now that im going boost i would be out of a lot more money. i also dont like to go off of assumptions of others jumping on the band wagon about products unless i personally had issues with it or had seen it for my self which is the main reason for me posting these pics because everybody bashes ebay items but very few have proof. some items on ebay i feel are ok to use while others like this clutch is now chalked up on the no go list. How i see it ebay seems to be a great way for someone with a new product that isnt well known to get a good customer base, im all about helping people with a new business. All these huge industries pushing out the little man makes people reluctant to start a business.

Ive never understood why people just dont go to the partshouse and buy a stock replacement clutch. Especially when it seems to good to be true. If they hadnt included a flywheel at that price, I might have considered that maybe its a quality part.

Rule number 1 on ebay parts. If its less than half the price of a well known quality product, theres a reason for it.

I guess it depends on how much money you have to spend on a good clutch! I have heard stories about a lot of different clutch brands not holding the power or harsh driving. I currently have an F1 XTREME which is like their Stage 4, it comes with a heavier pressure plate, pretty aggresive but its lasted me 12k miles and still grabing!! My bro has it in a GSR for 2500 miles and no problems either.

Looks like the clutch is fine to me still, just the throw-out bearing failed... simple and cheap fix or am I missing something? I've had throwout bearings fail in high dollar clutch kits with ~4k miles
