Default Easy One

What is the metal cable for that runs from the block or rocker cover to the frame? I thouhgt it was for gounding, but that's what the (-) on the battery is for. It is to help prevent degradation of the upper radiator hose or something?

and listen when they say "noise reduction"
You wouldn't believe how much engine noise is reduced from "ground straps"

Thanks. The strap on my car was starting to fray, so I constructed a new one w/ plastic-coated steel cable. The thing is, the new cable is a lower gauge than the original strap. How probable is it that the new cable may be to small to handle the possible current load, and, if it fails, what may happen?

you can make your own or get one from a dealer- they are only a few bucks. I don't think I would use steel cable for wiring- it will work though. Just seems kind of ghetto to me.

Thanks. I check the connection between the frame and the cable every time I open my hood. It seems to be okay so far, but I'll go to the dlrshp this weekend and get a new one.
