I've been reading through a few different dyno pulls and graphs. And most of the people have been doing 3rd gear pulls.

I just got back from the dyno last week and the guy that dynoed my car was doing 5th gear pulls. He did 2 4th gear pulls as well. He was saying that my gears were too close to use another gear, so he wanted to use 5th.

Would this change my results if I did a 3rd gear pull? Would I get more accurate numbers in 3rd then 5th.....or the exact same?

Depending on the gear ratios you have would determine how accurate the dyno pull would be.

For example my 3rd gear ratio in my b16a is 1.458 and my 5th gear ratio is .0848, so the dyno pull would be more accurate in fith gear as opposed to third, with my tranny, which is super short.

Whatever gear ratio is closest to 1:1 is the gear you want to dyno it with.

4th gear is usually the closest to a 1:1 ratio, so thats the gear dyno runs are usually done with.

 

I've got a Type R tranny in my GSR. With a JDM FD 4.785 and also an LSD. So, then maybe 5th gear is the best gear to do it in for my car. I would think 4th would be good too. We basically got the same numbers when we pulled in 4th gear.
