Default dyno plot question

hey i didnt get any answers from the ef forum:
how come on a dyno plot the hp peaks at a higher rpm when the torque curve seems to peek at a thousand or so rpm lower...excuse my stupidity
thanks

do you know for certain that what you are perceiving is actual behavior
of the same motor>?

it is because hp is proportional to rpm and torque. torque is the actual measurment that you get from a dyno and hp is calculated. the formula is
hprpm*torque)/5252. It is because of this relationship that at 5252 rpm hp=torque and then at higher rpm than 5252 hp>torque. If you look at dyno charts that have equal scales for hp and torque you will notice that they always cross very close to 5252 rpm

Yes, this is true. IF tq & hp are plotted at the same scale, they always intersect at 5.25 Also, after tuning a lot you will find that if you keep torque flat or rising in the highend, hp will also increase. A bad rod/stoke ratio engine will struggle to keep torque up even with higher cam profiles (vtec).
