dyno?
i just got a complete build on my b16 i was just wondering if i should drive it on a good basemap and put some miles on it...or take it right to the dyno? if some people can give me some ideas that would be great thank you
the only way to get my car home from the machine shop was to drive it cause i had to have it out of there driveway that day and couldnt get it towed so it was my last resort to drive it i drove it about 15 miles home and along the way i stopped and checked the coolant and everything a couple times...all that was perfect, my wideband wasnt recalibrated but it was reading 10 at idle which i know was rich and driving would go up to about 13 but i didnt beat on it or anything and stayed below 3k rpms and came home and my buddy hooked up my ecu to his computer and adjusted some ****...but i just have never broke anything in by beating on it so im just in the dust on this one cause people say to drive it around for a little then some say to take it straight to dyno

You're talking about breaking it in? If you street tune the AFR then you're safe to drive it around during break-in. Later you can take it to a dyno and they can tune it for power in open loop mode.
If the wideband is even close to being accurate you can rest assured that you will be dumping so much fuel into the cylinders that you will essentially wash the cylinder walls clean of oil. If it starts getting into the oil pass the rings it'll start to thin out the oil and then you'll have problems. Don't drive on a basemap if you do not have the capacity to tune it yourself.
If you need to break the engine in then tune it, break it in and retune if you have to.

so just take it to the dyno and have it tuned grumblemarc? i heard people say if i were to break in before tune to hit boost and compression stops to seat the rings then i heard to not hit boost so im a little confused
What's so significant about the 1,000 mile mark? There is a school of thought that believes unless the engine is driven hard within a short period (minutes) of time after a build/rebuild that the rings never seat properly.
