Dynamometer
So I have a physics project due tomorrow, and I decided that I would do it on how a dynamometer works. I went to Central Florida Turbo in Orlando for a small demonstration.. And all they could do was just say, "It tells you how much horsepower and torque you have".
I tried wikipedia, but I'm awful at understanding things like that - and was wondering if someone could give me a dubbed down version of how the actual dyno works.. It would be greatly appreciated.

There are a few types of dynos. Some accelerate a wheel of a known weight and calculate hp by using the time of acceleration.Others use water or electric resistance to load a sensor to measure torque, and engine rpm to measure hp.Visit some of the dyno manufacturer sites for details.
