its a lot less heart ache to take the head off and have a machine shop work their magic.
its really tuff to get just the threads out of a honda head because they are so deep....You can try one of the plug removal tools for fords but double check all the thread pitches. they're sold by all the big tool companies (mac, matco,snapon,cornwell)....but like he said sometimes its just easier to send it to a machine shop. yes you have to remove the cams because the head bolts are directly underneath them
There is the plan soak in pb blaster a couple days, then try and use an EZout... If that does not work, pull the head. These are pics of the problem and MAYBE fix. I cut an old plug to get an idea of what size EZout to use..

FIXED IT!!!!!
1. Tools: 3/8 EZ-out, punch, Hammer, 3/8 drive long rachet, 8 in 3/8 drive extention, ½ socket, PB blaster, elec tape
2. No damage to the head or spark plug thread (in the head).
3. Questions? Post up!

Good call on that rigged tool. Ha saves alot of money and time. My friend did the same thing to his civic, he would be pissed if he saw this post. he went and out and bought a new head and just wasted time.

Dude i cant believe people put in plugs with out it. An aluminum head and steel spark plug???
ANTISIEZE IT!!!!
Same thing happened to me last week with a NGK 8 heatrange plug, I took it out just by a flat screwdriver in the broken end of the plug and screwed it out did have to use any force to do it.
Scarred the **** out me though!

Hmm, I wish I had gotten here earlier for you. We had that happen to a car in our group at the track recently (at the DSM Shoot Out. Our yearly national track day). Tried the screw driver, needle nose etc. Got it out basically the same way (and were able to continue racing).
This makes me wonder if there is a problem with NGK plugs we need to know about (I think the one that broke in our buddies was also an 8). Seeing as how there are three instances of it right in this thread. Our thread wasn't in all that tight really. So it wasn't like it was bound in there.
Curious.

I was thinking as I was scrolling down that maybe putting some strong glue on the top half of the plug and push it down to dry but then you solved it with probably an even better method.
Nice job!
Nice job!
Thanks guys..... for the help and Encouragement... I dont think it is a plug issue, more like an install issue. Over torque, No anti-seize on a steel plug in an aluminum head, this kind of problem will happen alot....
